Hangerlok and the Planet

Manufacturing with a Purpose

Reducing our own waste stream

Producing USA made plastic parts for construction has an offset. There is surplus plastic and waste in the manufacturing process. Not all the processed plastic can be repurposed.
There are downsides of plastic that impact the planet. We read nearly everyday about the global plastic problem as it impacts oceans and landfills.
A short list of plastic waste:
  • 500 million straws used each day in USA
  • 35 billion water bottles used each year globally
  • 100 billion single use plastic bags per year

Litchfield International is actively re engineering its processes to reduce plastic waste and use less plastic in its packaging and shipping of products nationwide.
Some steps we have taken:
  • Replace plastic shipping pillows with kraft paper
  • Replace shrink wrap plastic with strapping tape for skid shipments
  • Replace plastic package liners with compostable bags and plant based bags
  • Replace product cartons with recycled corrugated material.

Learn what every person can do to limit daily use of plastic.

Collect, reduce, recycle, the right thing to do.

Litchfield International Builds A Better Building with Hangerlok

Hangerlok USA finds a home in the facilities piping market

Litchfield International, Litchfield CT, has been serving the construction and engineering communities since 1984.

Litchfield’s proprietary product line, Hangerlok®, is used in the piping market within the US for numerous applications. Those applications include: engineered piping systems, heating systems, flexible piping, potable water systems, industrial piping, and many market applications. 99% of the Hangerlok applications are within the plastic piping market. That market is estimated to be $13 Billion in 2018.

Litchfield International transformed its business model as a national distributor of European construction products to become a domestic manufacturer of similar products in 2010. By becoming a USA based manufacturer, the company was able to develop new products that outperformed its imported product line. That transformation allowed the company to follow its mission of proudly making the Hangerlok product line in the USA. As of December 2018, 100% of all  products made by Litchfield International are produced in Litchfield CT with its partner, Technical Industries Inc.

“As the exclusive manufacturing partner for all of Litchfield’s Hangerlok products, I am proud to have the opportunity to produce the product line in our plant in Torrington, CT.

Having worked with Litchfield for over sixteen years, I can testify that their standards are exacting. It is rewarding to me, my partner and our entire organization to be intricately involved in their mission to manufacture their products in the United States.

We look forward to our continuing relationship as Litchfield continues to grow in the piping market.”

Susan O. Parent, CEO
Technical Industries Inc., WOE, Torrington CT

“Teel BQ Americas, has entered the North American piping markets with our PP-RCT piping systems a versatile piping system for a wide range of applications in different industries.

Hangerlok approached our company with the most suitable plastic pipe hanging system to provide stability and ease of installation.

Teel BQ PP-RCT piping is an end to end piping system within all commercial applications. Our goal is to manufacture the pipe in the USA late 2019. Hangerlok added synergy to our offering.

Today’s transit industry is measured in tens of billions of dollars annually. Most major cities are expanding their transit systems to move the growing population around congested reducing traffic congestion and carbon emissions.

Based in Litchfield CT, Litchfield International has been serving the engineering and construction markets since 1984.

Hangerlok was developed by Litchfield in 2007 as its core domestic product line. All its accessory parts are made by local machine shops in Litchfield county.

Hangerlok is made from a highly durable and chemically safe polymer of plastic that conforms with transit industry standards.
